Change really can be easy and effortless. Yes, really! All energy for change emerges from living congruent with your unique combination of employing structure, behavior and perception. When the three legs of this triad are aligned in a specific order change aligns naturally.

And now, how to use this information to find your formula:

Simply stated, we give each side a name: PRIME, KEYSTONE and DRAIN

1.Prime

Your “Prime” is the side of your Triad where your attention goes most often. It is in the foreground of your awareness. There is energy to fuel change here, but it isn’t always available to you. The Prime side of your Triad is the energetically “polarized” or charged part of you. Sometimes it feels effortless, other times it feels challenging. Initiating change with the Prime side of your Triad can work, but it is not the most powerful source of energy to create change.

Characteristics of Primes

Perception

You focus on sensations, feelings or finding meanings. Your world is about sensing, feeling, choosing the meaning you wish to give to an experience and creating your internal experience regardless of the external circumstance. Your metaphors and descriptions of life are reserved in action, more contemplative, and you value your own perception or others’ perceptions as validates of life. Life is about awareness.

When challenged, you tend to obsess by recalling your own or others’ incorrect or inappropriate sensations, emotions, feelings, meanings, or stories. When resourceful, you tend to recall your or others’ correct or appropriate sensations, emotions, feelings, meanings, and stories.

Behavior

You focus on behaviors, actions, and doing. You are all about taking action and movement. Your metaphors and descriptions of life are active, deliberate, and often appear to others as animated and sometimes as “risk taking.” Life is about doing! When challenged, you tend to obsess by recalling your or others’ incorrect or incomplete behaviors, actions, or what you or someone else did wrong.

When resourceful, you tend to recall your or others’ correct victorious, or completed behaviors, actions or what you or someone else did that was GREAT!

Structure

You focus on organizing, creating, modifying, or reorganizing forms around you. Your metaphors and descriptions in life involve categorizing experiences into various boxes, circles, maps, plans, organizations, schedules, forms and/or locations. You tend to keep track of time, space, rules and the relationships of pieces and parts around you and within you. You tend to freeze behaviors and perceptions and even your sense of self or beliefs in time and space as if they were on a map, diagram or a photograph. When challenged, you tend to obsess by recalling your or others’ unorganized, uncertain or unkept plans, schedules, rules or systems… or you obsess with where to go or live… or you obsess with the structure of your body and everything wrong with it… or you obsess with the mess in your closet, desk, cabinets, etc. When resourceful, you tend to view or recall your or others’ solid, useful, well-played, organized and kept plans, schedules, rules or systems. You are at ease and happy with where to go or live. You feel organized and together and you appreciate the structure of your body.


2. Keystone

Your “Keystone” is the side of your Triad where there’s always an abundance of energy. Energy flows so effortlessly in this area that you might not even be aware that it is your most powerful resource. There is no charge in this area, it just is. When you are effectively using your Keystone, your natural style of making progress is expressed, and you have the experience of “Hey, this is easy!”

Characteristics of Keystones:

Perception

You feel at home or at ease with your or other people’s sensations, emotions, and the meanings you or others attach to experiences.

Behavior

You feel at home or at ease with what you do or don’t do, and with what others do and don’t do.

Structure

You feel at home or at ease with order, systems, schedules, locations, maps, rules, plans that you or others create.


Drain

Your “Drain” is the side of your Triad where you experience the most difficulty in life. When you try to use the Drain side of your Triad to make a change you experience struggle, effort and/or suffering. There is pain in the drain. That’s because there’s little to no energy available here to fuel change. It’s like a black hole that you can’t climb out of. It’s your least effective mode.

Characteristics of Drains:

Perception

Sensations, emotions, feelings and the reason why you or someone else is feeling these things are a source of pain, stress or at least uncertainty. You obsess over the worst possible outcome and meanings. You beat yourself up by focusing on the things that make you feel crappy and you are overly concerned with either what others think of you or how you make others feel. Focusing on your perceptions of what you or someone else is feeling and why often causes fear, confusion, anger, frustration, guilt, worry and/or doubt.

Behavior

What you did or didn’t do right or well or what someone else did or didn’t do right or well is a source of pain, stress or at least uncertainty. You obsess over how it should have or could have been done differently or better, or even if it should have or shouldn’t have been done in the first place.

Structure

Your or others’ schedules, plans, timing, organization, order, rules, or locations is a source of pain, stress, or at least uncertainty. You obsess over your inability to keep things in order or create a plan or schedule. You have difficulty getting and following other peoples’ systems and order

Your Triad of Progress is: Lining up all the energy rich aspects of the triad. The positive part of your Prime plus your Keystone.

Your Triad of Pain is: Lining you all the energy poor part of your triad.
